We arrive at the original pick-up location, hotel and accommodation for rest. We will be picked up from our hotel early in the morning. We are taken comfortably in a private vehicle accompanied by a knowledgeable driver to the entrance of the Gorge. During the drive, our driver will provide us with all the important information for our hike. Before starting the hike, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious breakfast or a coffee break in a local taverna, where we can savor the taste of a traditional Sfakian cake with honey, known as “Sfakiani Pita”.
At 10:00 we reach the entrance. (800 meters high) We then continue at our own pace.
After about 3 hours of walking, we reach the end of the gorge in the village of Komitades, where we can have lunch in a local taverna with magnificent views (300 meters high). After the meal, we will get into our vehicle.
Our driver will be waiting for us to take us to the picturesque Frangokastello. It is an imposing castle built by the Venetians in the 14th century as a garrison to keep order for the rebellious locals. We have around 2.5 hours here to treat ourselves to a refreshing swim.
At around 17:00, we will be back to Chania town and end our tour. Our memorable journey through the Imbros Gorge comes to an end and we will keep this spectacular adventure in our best memories!
